Web and cloud portals

The dashboard your product is actually sold on, built by the same team that wrote the firmware underneath it. Connected hardware is judged on the screen the customer logs into, not on the board inside the enclosure.

Your customer judges the product by the screen

A connected product is bought on the dashboard and kept on the hardware, and the two are usually built by suppliers who never speak. When the portal and the firmware come from one team, a field question gets answered once rather than bounced between two vendors with different logs. That matters most at the point it always matters: when a customer is on the phone asking why a unit says what it says.

And whatever else the product needs

A portal is usually one part of a larger piece of software around the product. The same team also builds mobile and desktop applications, data pipelines, analytics and system integrations, machine vision and signal processing, and internal tooling and automation. If what you need is not listed here, ask: the constraint is usually the hardware, not the software.
