Production test and programming

The test software and programming fixtures that make a volume build repeatable. Firmware loaded and verified on the line, every unit tested against the same rig, so what leaves the building is proven rather than assumed.

What we do

  • Functional test software written for your product, not adapted from someone else's
  • Test fixtures and jigs, accelerated by in-house 3D printing
  • Device programming and firmware loading as a line operation
  • Pass and fail recorded against the unit, not the batch
  • In-circuit and functional test before despatch
  • Test developed during NPI so volume does not need re-qualifying

A test that was written last is a test that proves least

Production test bolted on at the end tends to check what is easy to reach rather than what actually fails. Developed during NPI, alongside the firmware and on the line that will build the product, it can be designed around the failure modes the board really has. The result is a rig that catches the fault at the station rather than at your customer, and a record that says so unit by unit.

And whatever else the product needs

Production test is one of several things the software team builds around a build. The same team also builds mobile and desktop applications, data pipelines, analytics and system integrations, machine vision and signal processing, and internal tooling and automation. If what you need is not listed here, ask: the constraint is usually the hardware, not the software.
