Drivers and board support
The layer between your application and the silicon, built and maintained by the people who assembled the board. Your software team works against a stable interface instead of a datasheet and an errata sheet.
What we do
- Board support packages for the design as it was actually built
- Device drivers for the sensors, interfaces and peripherals you specified
- Hardware abstraction so application code is not rewritten when hardware revises
- Silicon vendor SDK integration, kept current as vendors move
- Bring-up support handed to your application team as a working interface
- Maintained across board revisions rather than delivered once and abandoned
The detail
- Scope
- BSP · device drivers · hardware abstraction · vendor SDK integration
- Written for
- The silicon and connectors on your schematic
- Interface
- A stable API for your application team to build against
- Revisions
- Carried forward as the hardware changes
- Alongside
- The assembly, inspection and test of the same board
- Compliance
- ISO 9001 quality system · full build traceability
A datasheet is not an interface
Most delay in an embedded programme is not the application. It is the weeks spent finding out how this particular part behaves on this particular board, which is knowledge that lives with whoever assembled it and debugged it first. Handing your application team a working abstraction instead of a reference manual moves that cost off your critical path, and keeps it off when the board revises.
And whatever else the product needs
Drivers and board support are one layer of a broader software capability. The same team also builds mobile and desktop applications, data pipelines, analytics and system integrations, machine vision and signal processing, and internal tooling and automation. If what you need is not listed here, ask: the constraint is usually the hardware, not the software.
